The Race game mode in Trackmania is the default mode in which players tend to compete. This game mode is focused on setting the best time on specific tracks. As more and more players compete on tracks, the times get better and better, making it harder and more challenging to set a top time. A lot of the Nadeo built campaign maps in all Trackmania games are hunted for hours on end to set world records and good times, challenging other players to set better times than the rest, ensuring a long time of fun competition on many tracks within the game. Compared to the other game modes, Race is the most competitive game mode by players worldwide. Race is also the only gamemode available to play in TMNF.
