TrackMania Competition Patch (Usually shortened to "Comp Patch", or TMCP) is a community-developed anti-cheat modification for TrackMania Nations Forever and TrackMania United Forever, created by donadigo. TMCP is designed to maintain the integrity of competitive play by blocking common cheating methods such as macros, game speed manipulation, and input injection.

Before TMCP, there was no widely adopted, public anti-cheat specifically aimed at competitive Forever titles, which meant that cheating could occur with little chance of detection in certain categories. TMCP became the go-to solution for verifying times on sites like TrackMania Exchange, especially in categories such as the Official Campaigns and Classic Tracks, where time legitimacy is essential.

TrackMania Competition Patch works by overhauling the game’s input system to ensure all actions come from real, physical devices, while also adding replay metadata to aid in validation. This metadata can flag tampered or suspicious runs, helping moderators verify leaderboard submissions.

History[edit]

TMCP was released on December 5, 2020, following an increased push for cheat detection in the Forever titles. It was developed alongside donadigo’s other projects, such as TrackMania ModLoader, and quickly gained traction within competitive communities.

Over time, TMCP became an unofficial requirement for certain TMX records, particularly for well-known and highly competitive tracks. While some players raised concerns over the limitations of client-side anti-cheat, the patch has proven effective in reducing cheating incidents and boosting trust in submitted times.

TMCP is available in two formats:

A ModLoader-compatible version for integration with other mods.

Installation is straightforward - extract the files into the game directory. When running in windowed mode, a “Competition Patch” label will appear in the window title, confirming that the patch is active.

Community and Reception[edit]

The patch has been widely praised within the TrackMania community, especially by players active on TMX and speedrun.com. It is considered an essential safeguard for fair competition, though some continue to advocate for server-side solutions to fully eliminate cheating potential.
