SnowA2 is a track in TrackMania United Forever, set in the Snow environment. The track contains no checkpoints and is built almost entirely from wooden platform blocks, with occasional boosters. Due to the lack of checkpoints, SnowA2 was shortcut almost immediately after its release.

World Record History

The original intended route of SnowA2 was rendered obsolete within a day of the track becoming available. The first shortcut involved driving straight after the initial set of boosters, colliding with tree scenery, and then turning sharply left up a slope to jump directly to the finish on the opposite side.

The first recorded shortcut time was set by Sd.Marci on 20 April 2008, with a time of 11.08. This discovery quickly popularized the shortcut, leading many players to aggressively collide with the trees in search of faster times.

A second iteration of the shortcut was later developed. Instead of turning sharply left up the small hill, players drove around the back of it and exploited irregular floor geometry. By bugging off this geometry, the car could gain a small hop that allowed a cleaner and faster entry into the finish.

SnowA2 is also notable for a controversial period in its history, during which the player Techno held an exceptionally strong but illegitimate record. This time was eventually challenged and surpassed by Nersons, who successfully optimized the bug-based shortcut.

The current world record is 9.47, set by Nersons on 10 August 2024.

Strategies

Tree Shortcut

Players drive straight after the opening boosters and intentionally collide with tree scenery to redirect the car toward the finish area.

Geometry Bug

The faster modern route involves driving around the back of the hill and exploiting uneven floor geometry to trigger a bug-induced hop, allowing a direct jump into the finish.
