TMUnlimiter is a Trackmania track-editing modification originally created by arc in 2010 and later continued and expanded by Tomek starting in early 2016. TMUnlimiter is the first and only public tool that directly patches the official in-game TrackMania editor to add new functionality, rather than replacing it with an external editor.

TMUnlimiter initially introduced Blockmixing, allowing multiple blocks to be placed in the same physical space. Over time, the tool expanded to support oversized maps, cross-environment block placement, and extended editor limits that are normally hard-coded into the TrackMania engine. These changes fundamentally altered what was possible in TrackMania track creation and enabled a new class of experimental and technical maps.

Under Tomek's continued development, TMUnlimiter gained significantly more advanced features. These include block rotation and movement beyond default editor constraints, extended terraforming options, support for advanced custom blocks, editor scripting, and the ability to modify car parameters using MediaTracker. These additions pushed TMUnlimiter beyond a simple limit-removal tool and into a full editor-extension framework.

Unlike replay or automation tools, TMUnlimiter operates entirely within the native TrackMania editor, modifying its behavior at runtime. This allows creators to work inside the familiar official editor interface while accessing functionality that would otherwise be impossible.

History

TMUnlimiter was originally developed by arc in 2010, with the primary goal of overcoming TrackMania's rigid editor limitations. The earliest versions focused mainly on blockmixing and basic limit removal.

Development resumed and expanded significantly in early 2016 when Tomek took over the project. During this period, TMUnlimiter evolved into a comprehensive editor modification, introducing features such as oversized maps, cross-environment mixing, advanced block manipulation, extended terraforming, and scripting capabilities. These updates established TMUnlimiter as a cornerstone tool for high-complexity TrackMania mapping.

Impact

TMUnlimiter is widely regarded as one of the most influential tools in the TrackMania mapping community. It enabled map designs and gameplay concepts that are impossible within the unmodified editor and has been used extensively in large-scale, experimental, and technically complex tracks.
