Master server is the main web server hosted by Nadeo that manages online communication with the game. The communication is done using a Nadeo's proprietary standard via the XML protocol.
There can be multiple master server instances running per game, such as Trackmania Turbo having at least one master server for each platform - PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Master servers are no longer used for Trackmania 2020. Instead, the Nadeo API is used for communication there.
