SnowA4 is a track in TrackMania United Forever and is widely regarded as one of the most unique and mechanically complex Snow tracks in the game. The main section of the track consists of an open ice field with irregularly sized edges and holes, followed by a small fort structure that the player enters to perform a single left-hand turn before the finish.

World Record History[edit]

SnowA4 is one of the very few tracks in the game where the majority of the run is driven in reverse. This is due to a unique property of the Snow car, which allows it to accelerate extremely quickly in reverse up to approximately 150 speed (but not beyond). As a result, reversing was adopted as the dominant strategy almost immediately after the track’s release.

What took significantly longer to discover, however, was the use of ice clipping. This is an extremely rare technique on Nadeo tracks, having only been identified on a small number of maps. Ice clipping occurs when, while sliding on ice, a wheel briefly dips off the edge of a specific ice drop-off and is then pulled back onto the surface by the car’s momentum. This interaction causes a sudden and significant increase in speed.

On SnowA4, this technique is performed twice during the ice field section. The combined speed gained from these ice clips far surpasses any alternative strategy the map could offer, completely redefining optimal play.

The current world record is held by Link, who achieved a time of 13.98 on 28 December 2025 using reverse driving and ice clipping.

Strategies[edit]

Reverse Driving[edit]

Most of the run is completed in reverse to take advantage of the Snow car’s unusually fast reverse acceleration, reaching up to 150 speed far quicker than forward driving allows.

Ice Clipping[edit]

While sliding on the ice field, players intentionally dip a wheel off specific ice edges and allow it to be pulled back up by momentum. Each successful ice clip provides a rapid burst of speed. Performing two clean ice clips is essential for competitive times.

Tool-Assisted Speedruns[edit]

The TAS for SnowA4 mirrors the real-time world record strategy. It further refines the reverse start and ice clipping execution, extracting even more speed from the same mechanics rather than introducing a new route.
