ShootMania: Storm, often referred to as simply ShootMania, is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Nadeo and published by Ubisoft. It is a spin-off of the TrackMania series built on the ManiaPlanet engine, designed with fast-paced arena combat and online competition at its core. The game emphasizes skill-based shooting, limited weapon variety, and competitive multiplayer matches in custom and official maps.
Gameplay[edit]
ShootMania Storm focuses exclusively on online multiplayer combat. Players compete in arena-style matches using a small set of weapons (most notably a rocket launcher-style primary gun) designed to keep the pace fast and engagements fluid. Character customization is minimal and largely cosmetic, with only certain visual elements like a shield on the player's back being adjustable.
The game supports a variety of player-created and official maps, and includes built-in matchmaking to connect players for competitive play. Community-created game modes, scripting, and map editing are enabled through the ManiaPlanet platform, fostering a modifiable experience.
ShootMania Storm does not include a traditional single-player campaign; instead, it revolves around online competition, community engagement, and replayability.
Development and release[edit]
ShootMania Storm was initially announced with a planned 2013 release. An open beta began on February 12, 2013, before the full game launched on April 10, 2013, for Microsoft Windows.
