BayA5 is a track in TrackMania United Forever, set in the Bay environment. The track is built almost entirely from Bay scenery buildings, with the intended route weaving through "streets" formed by the structures. Optimal driving involves very precise lines, threading the car between lamps and planters to maintain speed.
World Record History[edit]
BayA5 has the most unusual and well-documented history of any White Series Bay track, having featured two distinct shortcut eras over the course of its lifetime.
First Shortcut Era[edit]
The first major shortcut completely bypassed the intended route. Players instead drove around the back of the map, ignoring the streets entirely, before colliding with a small set of stairs to launch the car directly into the finish. This shortcut was only possible because the track was built without checkpoints, allowing any route to count as long as the finish was reached.
The final world record of this era was set by Luffy, who appeared to fully optimize the route with a time of 16.37 on 10 January 2011.
Second Shortcut Era[edit]
A second, more efficient shortcut was discovered roughly a decade later. This route involved cutting into a narrow alley on the right-hand side near the finish and intentionally colliding with multiple lamps to maximize speed into the finish line.
The shortcut was first executed by Mizu, who achieved a time of 15.92 on 22 May 2021, instantly surpassing the previous era's record. Over the following years, the route was refined several times, ultimately resulting in a world record of 15.57 by Neko on 16 August 2024.

Tool-Assisted Speedruns[edit]
Early TAS attempts closely mirrored the real-time world record routes. However, later TAS work introduced an entirely new approach. By clipping a floor lamp partway through the intended route, the car can be launched over the scenery buildings and directly into the finish area on the opposite side.
Several years later, the Polish player Fabi discovered that a Bay Bugfin could be triggered by effectively belly-flopping a specific section of upper geometry, saving roughly half a second over previous TAS routes.
The fastest known TAS of BayA5 was created by Kimura, achieving a time of 13.97 on 8 August 2025.[1]
